ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Mariana but you might find my artwork online in social media as M. RYBO
I was born in Argentina, but I have been living in the USA for the past decade. I speak Spanish natively and I am fluent with English.

Currently I am working on my author-illustrated YA graphic novel romance that, funneling my nostalgia from my home country that I haven’t been able to visit in long time, takes place in Argentina.

As a storyteller, whether writing or illustrating, I am always very character focused, I love to deep dive into who each specific character is, what’s their history, fears, dreams, behaviors, etc

In terms of illustration, I love fantasy, mythology, and creating characters, but I enjoy exploring other genres too.

As a GN creator, my brain seems to naturally try to balance the stories I want to work on. My queue of stories I want to create after I finish my current wip includes stories that explore and bring to light mental health, empowerment and acceptance themes embedded in coming of age stories that focus on family dynamics; and in contrast other stories that feel more joyful and heartwarming like romance and comedy.

My art style has been greatly influenced by comics, japanese manga and video games.
I love magical and mysterious forests scenes, sunsets, and busy cities.

At this moment I am working exclusively using the iPad, using the apps Clip Studio Paint for sequential Art, Procreate for illustration and Affinity Design for vector work. I’m also enjoying learning to create 3D characters in apps like Forger and Nomad. For traditional art my preferred medium are acrylics and gouache, but currently I am doing digital exclusively.

Thank you for your interest in my work.
